Muraokaya Nabeshima-sama

This is Muraokaya's signature confection, shaped after the 'Gyoyo' (apricot leaf) crest of the Nabeshima, the lords of the Saga Domain. It was first released all the way back in 1954 and has been beloved by the people of Saga for over half a century. Interestingly, this Gyoyo crest is not actually based on a plant, but is a stylized design of horse harness decoration. It is a prestigious crest said to have been used by the founder of the clan, Nabeshima Naoshige, to commemorate a victory in battle. We have expressed this history-laden crest through Monaka, featuring high-quality adzuki bean paste sandwiched between fragrant crusts made from Saga-grown glutinous rice. Available in rectangular, medium round, and large round shapes, you can choose the perfect one for your recipient or occasion. Please enjoy it slowly while tasting the history of Saga.
