Amanohashidate Kushimochi

An adorable skewer-style mochi enjoyed as a specialty of Amanohashidate, one of the three most scenic views in Japan. Amanohashidate is a representative landscape of Japan, featuring a sandbar stretching across Miyazu Bay lined with pine trees. In the Monju area, which serves as the gateway to this site, 'Chie no Mochi' (Wisdom Mochi) sold in front of Chion-ji Temple is known as a long-standing specialty. Named after Monju Bosatsu (the Bodhisattva of Wisdom), it is an anko-filled mochi said to grant wisdom to those who eat it. This bite-sized treat consists of soft mochi topped with sweet bean paste. The easy-to-eat form on a skewer makes it the perfect companion for a stroll. Enjoying its simple flavor while gazing at the breathtaking scenery will gently color your memories of your trip to Amanohashidate.
