Ie Ram Santa Maria (Iejima Distillery)
Ie Ram Santa Maria is a rare domestic rum, one of the few in the world made using 100% sugarcane from Iejima. While 90% of the world's rum is made from molasses (a byproduct of sugar production), this rum uses the 'Agricole method,' where freshly pressed sugarcane juice is fermented and distilled directly. This method, originating from France, accounts for only about 10% of the world's rum, making it rare and highlighting the natural, fresh flavor of the sugarcane. The varieties are diverse, including a mellow 'Gold' aged in oak barrels and a crisp 'Crystal' rested in stainless steel tanks. The natural sweet aroma of sugarcane rises from the glass, making it enjoyable both on the rocks and in cocktails.
