Daiei Watermelon
When you slice into a large, black-striped melon, it cracks open with a crisp sound to reveal bright red flesh. Taking a bite, a powerful sweetness overflows along with a crunchy texture—this is the 'Daiei Suika,' the brand watermelon that Hokuei Town takes great pride in. The history of Daiei Watermelon is long, with cultivation said to have begun in the former Yura Village in 1907. The well-drained soil unique to dune areas and abundant sunlight provide the perfect conditions to grow watermelons that are both high in sugar and crunchy. Today, it is a representative watermelon of Tottori Prefecture and a summer delicacy boasting one of the highest production volumes in the country. Serve it chilled for the whole family. Please enjoy these sweet, large watermelons from Hokuei Town—a juicy summer feast.
