Ono Local Sake

Ono City, known as a town of abacus making, is also a famous production area for Yamada Nishiki, the king of sake rice. Using 100% Yamada Nishiki rice grown in the Shimo-Tojo district, where particularly high-quality rice is harvested, the local sake 'Ono Koi' is brewed, bearing the name of the region. The Junmai Daiginjo 'Ono Koi' features a luxurious polishing ratio of 35% and was first released in 2018. It is characterized by its charming fruity aroma with sweetness and umami. Additionally, the city is home to 'Fuku-kura,' operated by Fukunishiki—a brewery that produces exclusively Junmai sake—where visitors can enjoy meals and tastings in a renovated brewery space. A single cup that directly delivers the deliciousness of rice, which the homeland of Yamada Nishiki takes pride in. This local sake also embodies a deep affection for the region through its name.
