Tanba Matsutake

Tanba matsutake are highly prized because they grow in Japanese red pine forests that prefer lean soil. In the past, people entered the mountains to collect firewood, naturally maintaining an environment where matsutake could easily grow. Today, through continuous efforts such as pine wilt disease control and forest maintenance, the traditional forest composition is preserved for harvesting. It is a precious autumn delicacy passed down through great care and effort.
