Hamachidori
As you bring the cup to your lips, the smooth mouthfeel is pleasant; it possesses a deep flavor yet finishes with a crisp, clean elegance. It does not overpower, instead gently complementing your meal—a 'sake of the sea' nurtured by Kamaishi. Since 1923, Hamachidori has been brewing sake in Kamaishi, surrounded by the sea and mountains. The brewing water is soft groundwater from the Kitakami Mountains, providing a gentle texture. Using primarily Iwate Prefecture-grown rice such as 'Yui no Ka' and 'Ginginga,' they uphold the philosophy of 'brewing sake in harmony with nature' through the techniques of the Nanbu Toji (master brewers). The well-balanced, mellow flavor is an outstanding match for fresh Sanriku seafood. It is a drink you will want to savor slowly in the presence of the bounties of the sea.
