Kana Kanajoan Amo
"Amo" is a term from the court ladies' language used in the Imperial Palace to mean mochi. Established in 1958, Kana Kanajoan has created its signature confectionery, the stick-shaped "Amo," under this elegant name. To ensure the soft grains of Tanba Dainagon adzuki beans remain intact, artisans hand-cook them, using the fresh bean paste to wrap a smooth Habutae mochi. The idea of wrapping mochi with bean paste was very rare at the time. The texture of the adzuki beans melting delicately in your mouth and their refined sweetness are proof that this sweet has been loved for over half a century. Slicing a piece of the moist stick to enjoy with tea offers an exceptional moment. Please take your time to savor this representative wagashi of Shiga.
