Okashidokoro Fujimura Kaika
A Japanese-Western fusion baked sweet called 'Kaika,' made by Okashidokoro Fujimura in Nakamachi, Matsumoto City. Fujimura is a long-established shop founded in 1938, known for its signature product, 'Raisin Cookie,' which uses rum raisins. This Kaika reflects the atmosphere of the former Kaichi School, where Eastern and Western cultures met during the Meiji era. It features soft cookie dough enveloping white bean paste mixed with apricot, walnuts, and Matsumoto-grown perilla seeds. It is a highly skilled product that won the Grand Prix in the souvenir category of the Matsumoto Sweets Contest 2017. Because it is from such a popular shop, Fujimura's items can sell out early. If you encounter it, please taste it—it is a treat that will become a cherished memory of your stroll through Matsumoto.
