Chikufudo: Kintsuba Yama
A luxurious Japanese sweet made by turning Obuse chestnuts into kintsuba (sweet bean paste pressed between thin crusts) with plenty of chestnut paste. Chikufudo is a long-established chestnut confectionery founded in Obuse in 1893. They maintain a strict commitment to using only domestic chestnuts, including those from Obuse, and never use any foreign-grown chestnuts for their homemade preparations. Kintsuba Yama is a piece packed tightly with whole chestnuts and chestnut paste inside a thin crust, finished with a subtle sweetness. The deliciousness of the chestnut itself is conveyed directly, without being interrupted by excessive sweetness. As you take a bite, the fluffy flavor of chestnut spreads softly through your mouth. It is a deep-flavored kintsuba that represents Obuse, the village of chestnuts.
