Kyokado Apricot Monaka

The Morino-Kurashina district of Chikuma City is one of Japan's leading apricot villages, often referred to as the place where you can see 'one hundred thousand blossoms at a single glance.' Legend has it that the apricot saplings spread across this land after being brought from the princess's hometown by a bride who married into the Matsushiro Clan during the Edo period. 'Kyokado Apricot Monaka' is a monaka wafer featuring an apricot filling made from locally grown apricots by Chikuma City's Kyokado. The sharp sweet and sour notes unique to apricots harmonize beautifully with the fragrant, crispy monaka shell, allowing the fruit's flavor to gently spread with every bite. This exquisite confection, characterized by its refreshing acidity, can only be tasted in this apricot village. It is a specialty of Chikuma that you will want to serve alongside your tea.
