Kaiundo - Kaichi

A National Treasure schoolhouse has become the motif for this sweet. Kaiundo's 'Kaichi' is a light fuyaki (soft) confection shaped after the former Kaichi School building, a National Treasure, crafted by a representative Matsumoto confectionery shop. Built in the early Meiji era, the former Kaichi School is a pseudo-Western style elementary school building and was the first modern school architecture to be designated as a National Treasure. Its symbol is the octagonal tower soaring above the roof. This product reflects that beautiful form in a light, airy confection. It features a crisp, light texture and elegant sweetness. It is a perfect souvenir for sightseeing, allowing you to taste the pride of the educational city of Matsumoto. It pairs well with tea and is also a delightful gift.
