Founded in the 5th year of the Bunka era, Sakurai Kanseido has continued to make chestnut sweets in Obuse for over 200 years. The 'Pure Chestnut Yokan' is a single log that represents the very origin of this tradition. An extremely simple chestnut yokan made only with chestnuts, sugar, and agar. It is a confection that embodies the history of Sakurai Kanseido, as it is said that the second generation created it during the Bunsei era by using chestnuts instead of adzuki beans.
