Sakurai Kanseido Jun-kuri Kanoko Yokan
Founded in 1808 (Bunka 5), Sakurai Kanseido has continued to craft chestnut sweets in Obuse for over two hundred years. Their flagship product is the "Jun-kuri Kanoko Yokan." Each luxurious stick is generously filled with large, chunky pieces of chestnut. It is said that the second generation created the "Jun-kuri Yokan"—made simply by kneading chestnuts, sugar, and agar—during the Bunsei era, using chestnuts instead of adzuki beans. Later, during the Meiji era, the fifth generation created "Jun-kuri Kanoko," which combines chestnut paste with large whole chestnuts. This confection inherits the charm of both. With no unnecessary additives, it offers the pure taste of the chestnut itself. The essence of Obuse chestnut confectionery is condensed into a single slice. This is a masterpiece we recommend with confidence to all chestnut lovers.
