Kukuya Shun-sui Monzen Hato Awase Monaka
Kukuya Shun-sui is located right in front of the Sanmon gate of Zenkoji Temple, at the foot of Komagaeri Bridge. Their popular product is 'Monzen Hato Awase Monaka.' The shop name is a play on the number '9' (from the pigeon, a symbol of peace playing in front of the temple) and the largest single digit '9'. This is a unique confection featuring adorable monaka shells shaped like pigeons, where you fill the paste yourself. A wonderful harmony is created by the white bean paste colored with four types of beans and the crispy, fragrant shell made from 100% Niigata glutinous rice. Part of the deliciousness is the fun of assembling it yourself. The crispy texture of the freshly filled shell is special because you finished it yourself. Please take these heartwarming pigeon monaka as a souvenir for your visit to Zenkoji Temple.
