Ikebukuro Mihando: Ranpo no Kura
Since its founding in 1937, Mihando, a long-established shop in Ikebukuro, has been loved by the great author Edogawa Ranpo, who lived nearby. This exquisite confection was created in honor of the literary master. The name "Ranpo no Kura" (Ranpo's Storehouse) is inspired by the earthen storehouse that still remains at Ranpo's former residence. Fitting its story, two types of fillings—cheese butter and apricot jam—are sandwiched between light, fluffy baked boussee cakes. It offers a uniquely Western-style charm crafted by a traditional Japanese confectionery specialist. A harmony of soft cake, mellow cheese, and sweet-and-sour apricot. When given alongside the story of this land associated with the great author, it makes for a souvenir that will make tea time even more enjoyable. It is also the perfect gift for book lovers.
