Tokyo Meika Hiyoko
Round eyes and a plump appearance. When you gently split the chick shape, smooth egg yolk paste is revealed. The fragrant crust and gentle sweetness allow you to take a relaxing break. The origins of Meika Hiyoko date back to 1912 in Iizuka, Chikuhō, an area with a thriving confectionery tradition. It is said that the second-generation owner, seeking "a shape that would be even more loved" for sweets that were then mostly round or square, created it from a chick that appeared in a dream. Eventually, following the Tokyo Olympics, the business moved to Tokyo and arrived at Tokyo Station in 1966. In this way, "Tokyo Hiyoko" came to be loved. It is a souvenir with a warm sweetness that makes you smile just by looking at it.
