Margareten Kuchen

When placed on a plate, it looks as if a single daisy has bloomed. The petals are made of marzipan, and with every bite, the refreshing sweet and sour taste of apricot jam spreads. It is a cake that enchants you whether you are looking at it or eating it. Margareten Kuchen is a famous confection crafted by Hollandische Kakao Stube, an established German confectionery founded in 1895. Motivated by the daisy (marguerite) flower, the sides of the cake are generously coated in apricot jam. The elegant sweetness of the marzipan and the acidity of the jam layer beautifully over the moist sponge, ensuring you never tire of it until the very last bite. It is a special gift that can only be found at select Mitsukoshi and Isetan department stores in Japan.
