Kimuraya Honten An-iri Ningyo-yaki (Doll-shaped Cakes with Red Bean Paste)
Inside the fluffy baked dough lies a generous amount of smooth red bean paste. When you take a bite, you are greeted by the rich aroma of egg in the crust and the gentle sweetness of the smooth bean paste. The cute shapes of Raijin (Thunder God) and the five-story pagoda will melt your heart. Kimuraya Honten is the originator of Ningyo-yaki, established in 1868 in the Nakamise area of Senso-ji Temple. Known as the oldest Ningyo-yaki shop in Asakusa, it continues to use the traditional molds created by its founder that are deeply connected to Asakusa's history. The classic version filled with bean paste is a familiar treat made by baking smooth red bean paste inside a dough of flour and egg. Freshly baked cakes are always on display. The fragrant crust and gentle bean paste are enjoyed by all generations. As an Asakusa soul sweet, it is the perfect companion for a stroll.
