Funawa Imo Yokan

A gentle sweetness that feels like the sweet potato itself. The smooth texture of this Imo Yokan allows the flavor of the potato to spread instantly, evoking a sense of nostalgia. Funawa was founded in 1902 by Kazusuke Kobayashi, who operated a sweet potato wholesale business in Asakusa. At a time when練羊羹 (neriyokan) was expensive and out of reach for ordinary people, he teamed up with confectionery artisans to create Imo Yokan as an affordable and easy-to-eat Japanese sweet. It is said to be the original flavor of Imo Yokan, utilizing the natural sweetness of the sweet potato. Its simple deliciousness, free from additives, makes it a staple Asakusa souvenir, enjoyed across generations.
