Kameju Dorayaki

Fluffy and airy. When you split the fragrant, baked skin, a generous amount of bean paste is revealed. The fine texture of the soft skin feels as if it might melt in your mouth with a single bite. Kameju is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop in Asakusa, dating back to the late Taisho era. Its auspicious name combines "Kame" (turtle) and "Ju" (ten), the largest single digit. Their specialty dorayaki, crafted with the skillful hands of artisans specializing in baking the skin, is counted as one of Tokyo's three great dorayaki, alongside Uji's "Usagiya" and Higashi-Jujo's "Sogetsu." Available in two varieties—black bean paste and white bean paste—lines often form to purchase them. Its simple, warm flavor has continued to be loved for a long time.
