Ehime Mikan (Satsuma Mandarin)
When you think of Ehime, you think of mikan. Representing Ehime—a prefecture that prides itself on being Japan's top citrus producer—is the Unshu mandarin, known for its perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. Ehime is a true "Citrus Kingdom," cultivating a wide variety of citrus fruits centered around the Unshu mandarin, including Iyokan, Ponkan, Dekopon, Setoka, and Kanpei. In the terraced orchards along the coast, mandarins with high sugar content grow by soaking up both sunlight and the reflected warmth from the sea.
