Kankawa Honpo Salted Manju Shihoman (Matcha)

A salted manju from Himeji's Kankawa Honpo, where Akaho salt meets Uji matcha. Kankawa Honpo's salted manju is a famous confection long tradition in Banshu Akaho. Akaho, once ruled by the Asano clan, is a famous salt-producing region; its manju, lightly seasoned with high-quality salt, has been loved since the Edo period. The smooth red bean paste, seasoned with salt, is gently wrapped in a white skin made from Kanbai-ko (powdered roasted glutinous rice). This 'Shihoman' version incorporates Uji matcha. The bitterness of the matcha resonates with the sweetness of the salted bean paste, resulting in a gentle flavor where tradition and modernity coexist. It is one of the representative famous sweets of Hime-ji, perfect for serving with tea.
