Tigre
An elegant baked confection whose name means 'tiger' in French. The name is said to originate from the way chocolate chips mixed into the almond batter create a mottled pattern after baking, resembling tiger stripes. In France, it is enjoyed as a luxurious version of a financier. It is finished by pouring smooth chocolate cream (ganache) into the ring-shaped indentation of a rich dough scented with browned butter and almonds. The combination of the fragrant dough and melting chocolate is exquisite. In December 2022, a specialty Tigre shop, 'Ashiya Tig,' was established in Ashiya. It is a slightly luxurious baked sweet worthy of the stylish town of Ashiya. A perfect item to enjoy with coffee or tea.
