Bern Baked Donuts
A specialty of Nishinomiya, these donuts are baked instead of fried, offering an addictive, moist, and light texture. They are produced by Patisserie Bern, which began in 1968 in a tiny 3.5-tsubo shop in Naruo, Nishinomiya. The shop name is derived from Bern, the capital of Switzerland, as the founder studied Swiss confectionery there. It is said that Bern was the first to use the name 'Baked Donuts.' Made carefully using wheat flour from Hyogo Prefecture, high-quality butter, and plenty of eggs. This long-selling item, which often sells out, has even been selected as a 'Nishinomiya Masterpiece' by local residents. Its charm lies in its lightness—thanks to being baked rather than fried—and its rich buttery flavor. Please take home this taste that has been loved in the Koshien area for half a century.
