Sohonke Kan-gawa Oishi Monaka

A monaka created by the long-established Ako shop Sohonke Kan-gawa, infused with the sentiments unique to a land connected to the Chushingura (the story of the 47 Ronin). Ako is the setting for the tale of the forty-seven retainers and has been known since ancient times as a producer of high-quality salt. Its specialty, the Salted Manju, has a history of being beloved in Edo after the raid, where it was known as 'Gishi Manju' or 'Oishi Manju.' Carrying that same spirit, this 'Oishi Monaka' was created in honor of Oishi Kuranosuke, who led the forty-seven retainers. We have generously filled the crispy monaka shells with elegant red bean paste. The flavor is even more special when enjoyed while reflecting on the romance of history. It is a refined confection that lets you feel the story of Ako.
