Kankawabonpo Shihomikan
This is a salt yokan (sweet bean jelly) with an elegant sweet and salty flavor, featuring a subtle hint of salt from Banshu Ako. Produced by Kankawabonpo, a Japanese confectionery shop in Ako. Ako is a land closely connected to salt confectionery; it is said that the local lords once practiced tea ceremony and used salt as a secret ingredient in 'Ako Manju' as gifts to the Imperial Court and the Shogunate. This 'Shihomikan' uses Ako salt to create a yokan that significantly enhances the sweetness of the adzuki beans with a touch of saltiness. Within the sweetness lies a sharp saltiness. This exquisite balance further brings out the flavor of the adzuki beans. It is a traditional taste passed down since ancient times in Harima, characterized by its clean aftertaste. Please enjoy it slowly along with some warm tea.
