Mangetsudo Karinto Manju
This is a popular karinto manju (fried sweet bun) produced by Mangetsudo, founded in 1882. Smooth red bean paste is wrapped in a brown sugar-scented dough and fried to a crisp in rice oil. Mangetsudo is a long-established shop located in Awaka, Kobe City North Ward, an area that once flourished as a post town connecting Kyoto and Osaka. Known for their signature H助 (Housuke) Manju, they maintain a strict policy of never making stock in advance to ensure they 'hand over freshly made goods.' The exterior is crunchy and fragrant, while the interior is moist with a gentle sweetness. The richness of the brown sugar pairs perfectly with the smooth red bean paste. This is a flavor unique to a long-standing shop that treasures the deliciousness of being freshly fried. Please enjoy it while fresh.
