Shosha Sennen-sugi (Ogura)

This is the Ogura flavor of Kineya's famous confection "Shosha Sennen-sugi," which transforms the thousand-year-old cedar tree standing tall at Shoszan Engyo-ji Temple in Himeji into a complete sweet. The item's appearance is so much like an actual cedar tree that you cannot help but stare. Shoszan Engyo-ji is an ancient temple on the Saigoku Koji pilgrimage route and is also known as a filming location for the movie "The Last Samurai." This stick-shaped Baumkuchen, which uses sliced almonds to represent the texture of cedar bark, was created under the supervision of the head priest of Engyo-ji. With moist, fluffy cake layered with the gentle flavor of Ogura bean paste, it is a delight to both look at and eat. Infusing the history and nature of Himeっとji into a single piece, this heartfelt confection is also perfect for gifts.
