Monaka from Mangetsu-do, a long-established Japanese confectionery shop founded in 1882 in Awaka, a post town in Kobe's Kita Ward. This simple yet flavorful treat has been passed down for over 140 years. Mangetsu-do was opened by the first generation, Toyosuke, who arrived in Awaka after traveling from Tanba-Sasayama. Located in a place that flourished as a post town connecting Kyoto and Osaka, it has long been loved by travelers visiting hot springs. An old-fashioned flavor featuring plenty of bean paste inside crispy monaka wafers. The spirit of this venerable shop, which prioritizes 'handing over freshly made goods,' can be felt in every bite.
