Morozoff Custard Pudding
The taste of a long-established Kobe confectionery shop that helped spread the culture of custard pudding in Japan. Morozoff was founded in Kobe in 1931. In 1962, handmade custard pudding created by employees at a Tokyo cafe gained popularity and eventually became synonymous with pudding in glass containers. There is even a heartwarming anecdote of how it was affectionately called 'Deka-Purin' (Big Pudding) by female students in Kobe. Made using only carefully selected milk, eggs, sugar, and a hint of vanilla, it is slow-steamed without the use of preservatives. The smooth texture and gentle sweetness, achieved solely through the power of eggs, are exceptional. It is truly the quintessential Kobe souvenir. Its retro appearance in a glass container is also one of the reasons it has been loved for so long.
