Gozasou Red Bean Paste

Founded in 1950, this is a synonym for the beloved 'kaiten-yaki' (rotating baked cake) in Himeji. Gozasou is a famous shop for kaiten-yaki (also known as Imagawa-yaki) born in Himelar. It became so popular that customers eventually began calling the pastry itself "Gozasou," a name derived from the expression of gratitude, "Okaimage itadaki, arigataku gozasou" (Thank you very much for your purchase). This red bean version boasts a mellow sweetness that highlights the flavor of adzuki beans, using plenty of beans from Tokachi, Hokkaido. The dough is chewy and packed with bean paste that retains a lovely texture. Delicious even when cold, and delicious when reheated—it is a beloved taste enjoyed across generations.
