Meigetsudo Tawara Monaka
A monaka shaped like a rice bale, loved in Miki, the home of sake rice. This is the flagship product of Meigetsudo, founded in 1936 in Miki City. In connection with Miki, which is known as Japan's top production area for Yamada Nishiki (the finest sake rice), the monaka is shaped like an auspicious rice bale. Under the motto 'Dedicated to Taste,' it has been a long-selling favorite for over half a century. It features plenty of flavorful chunky bean paste, made by cooking Dainagon adzuki beans using a unique method, inside a fragrant and crispy baked monaka shell. You can enjoy the light texture of the shell and the elegant sweetness of the bean paste that preserves the texture of the beans. This is a local masterpiece nurtured by the rich climate of the land where Yamada Nishiki grows. It is a wonderful item for both tea time and as a souvenir.
