Rin to shite Naotora Baumkuchen
This commemorative confection was created in honor of Hamamatsu, the setting of the 2017 NHK Taiga Drama 'Onna Joshu Naotora.' Naotora Ii, who survived the Warring States period as a female castle lord, is a figure closely associated with Iinoya, Hamamatsu. This moistly baked baumkuchen comes in red packaging reminiscent of the Ii clan's 'Akazonae' (red armor), conveying the history of Hamamatsu through confectionery. The layers of dough, stacked like tree rings, evoke the accumulation of passing eras. Enjoy a slice of the moist cake with some tea. As you savor it while reflecting on Naotora's story depicted in the drama, the long history that flowed through the land of Hamamatsu will feel even more intimate.
