Fukuya Warabi Mochi

When you pour the included black syrup (kuromitsu) over it, the jiggly dough becomes even more glossy. This is warabi mochi produced by Fukuya, a long-established Japanese confectionery shop in Higashimatsuyama. Fukuya was founded in 1912 (Meiji 45). In the land of Bushu Matsuyama, they have passed down the craft of making Japanese sweets with a focus on ingredients and water for three generations. They are also well-known for their specialty 'Botan Dango.' The dough, carefully kneaded with warabi powder, features a characteristic chewy elasticity and smooth melting texture. It is also available as a hometown tax (Furusato Nozei) return gift. Please enjoy it chilled as a summer snack. It is a refreshing sweet nurtured by the history of Higashimatsuyama. The smooth texture is especially delightful on a hot day.
